It has been an interesting experience to listen to learned men, the ‘enlightened’ ones, their ‘reasoning’ of Your existence, Your methods, Your purposes, even Your existence at all. It’s as if they can justify Your presence in life by their understanding alone.
I know it is the revelation of thought, especially the process of removing oneself from the existing religious system, yet sense even now men doing the same. It is the same now as then: why is God letting this happen when He is the Creator and can easily fix the issue? Why create to have this issue in the first place? What kind of God allows pain, suffering, wars, illness and disease, poverty, death? Why create this way?
My belief is You didn’t – that there is another understanding men are unaware due to their pattern of thinking. I find it fascinating, at least up to my current reading, that none have sought to begin with the premise that You are love, that Your goodness proceeds from there, and that what man sees as evil, in form and manner, is somehow Your fault for letting it exist.
It never occurs that perhaps it is man’s fault to begin with – his creations. Granted, I cannot currently explain what is seen as objectionable in the Old Testament – but I am content to begin with the New, and the revelation of the God I am seeing there.
I sometimes have this thought that the Old Testament is the record of man’s attempt to reveal his creative abilities as given to him by You. Does he set up institutions of belief according to his own set of laws? Does he try to create what he desires most, and when failing, destroys and begins again? Does he measure his progress with numbers? Does he destroy others in his desire to be seen as he believes he is, that his ways are the only to exist? Would he lead others into captivity to punish? Would he give only if certain rules were met?
The Old appears as a biography of man. What seems to follow, the New, appears as an autobiography of God.
You have touched upon issues of My heart. Why would My first revelation to Moses be one of My goodness? It is that I Am. Such is the intent placed in man’s heart – that he would reveal himself also as I Am. It is the way I create, and have created him.
Yet in My joy of creation man has taken this joy and turned it into himself. He sees no other, only what he believes he sees within. As he sees with his own eyes he sees falsely; yet the lies he pursues – this revelation of his own goodness – is deceit upon all others. He enslaves, destroys, pursues all he believes would make him great and powerful, yet to an end he would not have chosen had he sought the true light within. In truth, the words of the past reveal this pattern of a man’s life, ever to be repeated, always to the same result.
What did Moses see when goodness was revealed? Was it just a word, a good feeling? Or was it something more, something tangible, something felt as belonging only to him? My goodness envelops; it is substance, a peace that enshrouds as a cloak of comfort within the heart that a future of great possibility awaits. It is as an opening within a man’s heart – what shall be explored, what amazement to behold, what joy to move deeper into? What Moses saw, if he could grasp the vision, was his future with Me, the hope of his placement within My heart, the joy of eternity if he would follow. It is My goodness that sets the heart as a foundation stone within Me, evermore in place.
Therefore, see My goodness and build upon it. Filter through the Old, as you would call the events of the past, and search for the thread of goodness – you will find it, and in finding it you will find Me. Do not judge lightly the words you read as if their meaning, their story, their truth is easily revealed to man, but search for My heart of goodness. It is hidden but in plain sight for those who would see.
You have sought and so it will be revealed. For others, even the supposed ‘enlightened’ ones, all remains hidden if they search with eyes that do not see, only with minds that reason and think from a heart that remains closed to My goodness. Reach deeply and the treasure will be yours.
